I changed the oil on my 04 yesterday (200 miles). Take your time removing the plastics. The two screws located in the lower front (behind the front tire) get kinda sticky. Oh ,,,and you'll see that the 04 has a new oil cap. You have to use a tool from the tool kit just to put the new oil in.

Just another Frikin part to lose and have to over-pay a dealer for.. @$#@#%@#$%

Im gonna assume that the size is the same so if you want to change to the older style, you can?

What do you mean by "kinda sticky" And is there more than 1 ferring that needs to be removed? Thanks again. I dont feel like paying the shop guys 60 bucks and wasting 4 hours waitn.

After riding being that the two bolts are directly behind the front tire everything is able to fling up into the bolts and stick. I have had every farings and a hole lot more off my bike so far. You will not have a problem changing the oil!! As for the oil cap, dchoeppner you are not paranoid!!! There are many people out there that may hate your bike or you for whatever reason and to much of a pus to knock it over. Also if you like the other color caps they make many be it won't get stolen.

Don't know about the 04, but my 02 is the easiest sport bike to change oil on that I've ever had... I imagine the 04 is very similar...
