So I am a relatively new R1 owner. I bought the bike with 1,200 miles on it.
It is a 2012 and it now has 3,650 miles on the bike. Today the check engine light came on.

Here are my questions.

1) Is there any way to get the "code" for the light?
2) The next service according to the book is at 6k and I'm on 3.5k, Is there any reason that the light would come one due to service schedule issue?
Or usually when an a R1 engine light comes on is something Fu*cked up!?

Using diagnostic mode you can read all codes, and even the parameters (readings) of various sensors on the bike. The service manuals are 'stickys' in the mech. help section. Did the light go off ? I would check the battery voltage first, when off and then running.
