if i buy one of the new flashtune cables, and want to put my files on a friends ecu, will i be able to pay a license fee to be able to use it on more than one ecu?

I believe that's how it works. The license will be tied to your account so you'll need to do any subsequent flashes for your friend, unless he decides to get the setup himself.

I think you will have to a) make sure it is the new/current style interface, and b) call F-T and have them register the interface with your account.
