Well I’m finally here (and back, after about a decade of no R1). I cross posted a WTB for a 2006 R1 LE and I found my mate. #26/500. She arrived today by way of an incredible motorcycle community member Juan (the delivery driver). I bought the bike sight unseen from CycleTrader site. Seller was fantastic, brokered the deal 100% remote, a bit unnerving but I had the title and a key in my hand next day once the money was transacted. She’s a 1 owner, all documents, tool kit, extras and OEM bits. She arrived today as expected and lives up to expectations.

10,089 miles

here is what’s on the docket this week:
Oil/filter
New shoes front and rear
Coolant flush/fill
Clutch and brake fluid flush/fill
Possible new gold chain and sprokets
Spark plugs
Air filter check/replace

I took her for her maiden voyage in New England today and I have to say she’s a gem. I forgot just how insanely fast these bikes are. Ear to ear smiles for days.

Happy to be here! Enjoy the roads my friends!

Be VERY careful with the wheels. They cannot be fixed or replaced.

Most things are a direct swap except wheels, suspension, drive gearing, and brake components. Most of that is irreplaceable and in some cases, almost impossible to find.

But I am super happy for you that you were able to find one. I know you are looking hard for one. Welcome to the club! There are only a few of us.

I feel bad for the first owner that kept this lemon for 20 years to still lose money.

This answers ALOT of questions regarding production.

#413-VIN ends in 3888
#244-VIN ends in 3427
Both manufactured in November 2005

This would suggest that all "Limited Edition" bikes were manufactured early in production however they were not manufactured in numerical order.
