I resently got my 2000 R1. It's soooooo nice to ride, and bloddy fast, compared to my old ZX-6R. But, I wonder if there is a problem with the fuel-pump. When I turn on the ignition, the pump either does not buzz, or some strange sounds appear. I have heard other R1's buzz when the ignition is turned on, and mine does not sound like that! It drives well (I have not compared to other R1's though....), but at idle, when cold, it revs a little unsettled. Any suggestions what the problem may be? Is it a problem at all?

Also, I have punctured my D207 rear. Had to buy a tire very fast, and got a Metzeler MEZ04. How is this tire on the bike?

Yes, I know the that the pump shall deliver fuel to the carbs. But, the sound that comes when I turn on the ignition is not the same as the sound I have heard on other R1's. Normally it should be a "Bzzzzzzzzzzzz"-kind of thing, but mine is not at all like this. Any suggestions? I do not have any problems starting though.....

buzzzzzzz

i have a 2001 r1 when my fuel pump turns on it ticks till the bowls are full. it doesn't buzz on mine. not a problem. as far as unsteady idle when cold. blame that on carbration. you won't get a smooth idle like efi bikes.
As far as the tire goes can't help ya haven't used them.
