Yesterday, it was a beautiful day. I went for a ride with 2 friends. It was amazing and I even got rid of all the chicken strips on those Dunlops 208s on my one month old R1. But on our way back, I was going into a lefty, guess what, I hit a bump on the road. The badly patched bump caused my already slipery rear wheel kick out drasticlly. The Scott damper did a great job to prevent a tank slapper in the front, my the rear was out and hit some gravels on the side of the road. I naturally tried to pull the bike back to up and straight position but it all happened too quickly. It threw me up a bit, my chest hit the tank and so i landed on my right shoulder and kept sliding for maybe a couple of hundreds feet. I was unlucky to hit a bump but I am very thankful to walk away from this, it could have been worse if there was oncoming traffic. Nothing's broken on me, not even a scratch, except some sharp pain in the chest caused by bruise inside.
I was wearing full leather gears and it saved me. Gotta love that Daninese suit. A dent on the helmet which will be a souvenir. As for the bike, it fell on its right side, one week old Akrapovic slipon was destroyed. Frame and clutch sliders minimized the damamge but there's a couple of holes on the fairings because of the stones and sand on the side of the road. I hope the frame and fork are ok becuase the bike didn't seem to go straight afterword.
Well, at least I'm fine. So I hope it doesn't happen to any of you because it's quite scary.

Wear FULL protection gears no matter how the weather is. You will be thankful when something happens.
Street roads are nothing like on a track, they are very unpredictable. And when it happens, it comes faster than you think and you ride.
Ride safely!

pain killer's kicking in, it makes me dizzy, nappy time... again, ride safe!

p.s. BRBKJACKSON, did you fix your bike yet? or you are still waiting for parts???

I'm glad to hear that you have a positive attitude about your whole experience. I am also glad to hear that you're OK, it's also a positive reinforcement for riders to stay protected by wearing the proper gear. (You're story proves that) Hopefully you'll have your bike fixed up and ready to roll before we're too deep into the summer. On another note, my chicken strips are going to stay exactly that.... CHICKEN STRIPS... I think the farthest my bike has leaned is when it's sitting in the garage with the kickstand down !!

Good thing you're alright. I don't think its dropping your bike that gets people killed, It's hitting stuff after you fall that does it. So be safe people, don't take unneccasary risks on corners with guardrails, mail boxes ect. And watch out when you're around cars! Hope you get your bike back to normal soon. :thumbup

Dust yourself.......................

Get your new parts and hit it again. Glad to know that you came out with no cracks . Indeed a good point about the safety gear. I have a freind with a liquid silver 02 and he scares the crap out of me just watching him ride. (Helmet, no gloves , no shirt , Jeans and Bass boat shoes. and he's a RN. ) I tried to sell him one of my jackets real cheap just so he has one but he would'nt take it. (100.00) He did buy a pair of my boots after he scraped his left toe going round a tight hairpin. Good luck on the recovery.

you could say that was a wide turn, but if it's not the bump that made the rear wheel skip off the road, nothing wouldn't happen.
I'm taking time to heal now and worry about the bike later. Thanks for support guys!
