Got a great deal on an Arai quantum Okada helmet...quick ? though..
it came from a smoker's residence, and the pads smell very faintly of smoke..not bad at all, but I'm allergic so my nose is very sensitive to it...is there anyway to clean them?

Spray Lysol or Ozium in it. I prefer Ozium since Lysol is sort of strong. You can find the Ozium at any car parts store or car wash. It's very effective against odors. Another option is F'breeze. The only problem with F'breeze is that the smell is masked, not elimated as with the previous two. Another thing I do is keep an air freshner in my helmet. Like the ones you hang from your mirrors. I prefer cherry. It sounds cheesy 'til you try it.
yes,there is a way;

fill the sink with hot water and whatever nicely scented soap you got;

but before,put a nice,thick rag at the bottom of it so you wont scratch the helmet!

let soak a couple of minutes,rub,rub,rub........rub,rinse,rinse,rinse.............rinse,let dry.
Just curious.... why would you buy a used helmet??:eek:

Yup i'm with blue streak, why buy the used helmet??
1)There is absolutely nothing wrong with it
2)I got it for $200
3)It's been worn only a few times.

Basically, I was about to order the same helmet and pay 450bucks shipped, and a friend put me onto this one...why not save $250?

I'm thinking that 250 will just about cover the new tires I need, plus I plan on ordering a new one for me when I get a bonus check next month, this one was just going to be for passengers anyway.

There are many people on eBay who sell helmets for people with $100 heads. Check out the reply when I asked for a manufacture date:

"Chinstrap date is 10/95.
As far as I know the helmets previous owner only used the helmet as a race helmet.
This would probably limit the amount of UV exposure vs. if it were used as a street helmet." :bs

Dude wants $270 on the "Buy it Now" option -- sheesh!
Item # 1821378013

There was some other guy selling a pair that were made in the eighties with some crap about "I understand these are 'da bomb' for racing.

Did you get it x-rayed???

I've dropped previous helmets before and they 'appear'to be fine. And I have continued to use them. However I would not buy a used helmet - period.

Also head lice cannot be removed with common cleansers!

It's your head though... good luck.
