I have a 2004 Yamaha R1. I just bought an H.I.D. kit from xenon king.com... I live in San Francisco. Does anybody know a good place that will install my kit correctly? I called Mission Motorcycles and a lady picked up and I asked her if they were able to install my H.I.D. kit and she said "H.I.D. kit, what the hell is that?" I need some help. Thank you in advance..

Oh, and i'm sure if you do a SEARCH on here, you will find a number of threads on what people have done to their bikes...like where to mount the balasts.

True. But sometimes people are either un-equiped or inexperianced and it helps to have someone give you an opinion on your project. I was not offering ot do the work for him, just help.

I always hope that it will get them started down the path of self reliance.:thumbup

Hey, you'll probably be fine doing it yourself. If you have say 2 hrs free it'll be the same quality as paying the shop to do it. I havent done it on my R6, but all three cars ive done it to were really simple. The hardest part id imagine on a bike would be the placing of the ballasts. From what ive seen done on R6's, under the rider's seat is the best, just adjust the battery location and make sure everything is nice and neat. Ive also heard of doing the ballasts under the windscreen behind the guages. Never taken an R1 apart, but be creative and remember to take your time. Good luck

I know it's off topic but... does anybody know the difference between a motorcycle hid kit and a automotive hid kit?

The only reason why I'm asking is because the motorcycle kit comes with only 1 hid. And since I need 2, the cost would be a lot more than just buying the automotive kit which comes with 2 hids.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR BIKE TO MISSION MOTORCYCLES!!!!!
They have screwed up so many bikes, mine as well as a bunch of friends.

The new dealership in san rafael is the best, its off francisco blvd, (the frontage road)

theres not really a difference in motorcycle HID's and automotive HIDs. The automotive HIDs will fit on a bike if the bulb size is right. Any ballast and ignighter combo is the same, i do believe however that some of the motorcycle specific models have more compact ballasts, and the set im ordering has the ballasts and ignighters together as one. but in short, an HID kit will fit any headlight if the bulb is the right size. period.
