Generally speaking, if you appeal to most people's sense of reasoning you won't have a big problem. Just tell the person doing the inspection to look at the brightness of the lights -- the Greggs are damn bright. Tell them that you not only installed them for the better look, but that they are safer as well. After all, the visibility from the side of the stock signals is no where near as good. Just be logical. If you're there, presenting a quality set of lights, and not just some cheap crappy marker lights, you should be fine. As for the pipe, I always show them some of my scars from getting run over by cages who "didn't even know I was there" and tell them that anything that can help me get the attention of other drivers is a good thing.
