The G.M. for the local Honda/Yamaha dealer claims that a lot of people that have purchased the new R1 are disappointed because it's hard to ride a long wheelie. He goes on to explain that the bike acts like it cuts out when you bring the front wheel up forcing the front end back down.

How about the real story from all you current 04 R1 owners?
Hopefully i will be on one soon. :rock

I used to have a CBR900RR that I could whellie the hell out
of and I have to say that my new R1 makes that bike seem
like it was bolted to the ground. I have cranked out a few 3 mile
plus whellies without hessitation from the bike. Granted long
stand ups are my specialty but this bike makes it as easy as finding oil under a harley. No whellie prob's what so ever although the balance point is six to eight inches higher than a honda900 or a gixxer.

I think this would be better in the stunters section. I will move it over :)

Seems fine to me......
Not even close to balance point:bandit If you are Accelerating AT ALL when you are wheelin' then you are not at the balance point!!! You can get close but it's when your tach is moving NO where :bow

THis isnt even balance point:riding It's higher !

Yes, it is higher, when your standing on the rider pegs.....

If you notice, I'm crossed up with my right knee on the seat. In this position I have more control over the bike. I can lean a lot further back to compensate for the balance point than I can if I'm on the rider pegs...

Anyway, I'll shoot a video for you and then you can tell me if I'm at the balance point... ok??? This weekend sounds good.

and yes, I understand when the bike is not accerlerating that is the balance point.

I don't claim to be a stunt rider. I'M NOT. It f#ckes up your bike, and I like the way my bike looks. I don't pratice wheelies, but I can do them.

Tell me this. If when your tach and speedo aren't going up when your in a wheelie is the BALANCE POINT.

What is it when your bike starts to slow down in a wheelie? Just wondering, cause I don't know what to call it when people ask me how I do that...

Whoa, ease up killer:rant Hows the blood pressure?.. I was just saying balance point is higher thats all ....NOt dogging you at your wheelies. When your tach is slowing down OBVIOUSLY that means your PAST balance point smart guy and I know what it feels like too.... and I only have one foot on the rear peg and my right foot is still on the brake lever .... MORE control than having your knee on the seat( But those ones are fun too!) I prefer to rock at like 30mph though.. Oh yeah nice avatar referral:riding
