Hi Guys, is there a way to tell when a motor was built on a bike? My buddy bought a bike and he thinks his bike might have had a use motor in it and was not the original motor that came with the bike but he not sure how to tell. So this is why I am asking this question.

Is it true now days the number on the motor matches with the Vin # of the bike or are they two separate numbers that don't relate to each other? Thanks for your assistant in this matter.

Thanks

Okay good to know as I thought so. Still wondering how you can tell when a motor is built as there must be a way to tell? Thanks for your feedback.

You could try calling a dealer with the engine number, they may be able to check on their system. Here in Australia the original sales documents have the vin and engine number on them
