I did mine a few months ago. I know it's a pain in the ass. All I
can tell you is take your time and read that section in the manual
over and over. Keep trying and you'll get it. It took me a few
times, but I got it. I then took it out for a test ride and damn, it
really works. I know one thing for sure. That light is really bright
when it comes on and starts flashing while it's dark outside. It
scared the crap out of me.:scared

It's easy...
Put the key in the "off" position
press & hold the left button
turn the key to the "on" position
hold button down for 5 seconds
display should switch to a series of "O's"
use the right button to adjust, and the left button to cycle forwards

I don't remember what order it goes in, but you have to adjust the display's brightness, the brightness of the shift light, how the shift light blinks, what RPM the shift light comes on, and what RPM the shift light goes off.
Good Luck :thumbup

I think you have to call yamaha and tell them that you know how to do that. this stuff is unavilable everywhere I looked for.

thats what I needed.

Thanks!

hmmm.. evertime i set it.. it never worked.. i only read the manual like once.. so one night i just tried it.. from reading your directions.. i didnt realize you had to set it to shut off.. i thought maybe it was a seperate setting for the second time it came on..
so i guess it just cancelled it self out.. i will have to try it again the next time it comes on..

On the topic of the shift light and RPMs...
I currently have mine set to start blinking at 10,500 RPM and it shuts off at 12,500.
I did it that way so that by the time my brain recognizes that the shift light is blinking, I'm at peak horsepower and ready to shift into the next gear.:D :fire
