I got the idea for this thread from the "bike cover" thread...

I'm personnaly looking into buying a bike cover for my 02 R1 comming soon... but the main reason for it is to protect it against theives, not birds. Since i live in an appartment building with no interior parking my options are:
1- Park it in the street with a disk lock and a bike cover(not secure enough in my mind).
2- Park it at the back of the building attached to a telephone post with a Snake Lock, disk lock and under a bike cover. :machinegu

Eventually i was thinking of buying the Scorpio alarm system with pager notification to get ultimate protection  but it's really expensive. Any one has such a system? Do you recommend it?

I think a good lock and a bike cover are more efficient in protecting your valuable baby and cost a lot less than an alarm system... although less pratical.

leaving it outside at night is not an option for me. Fortunately I have a garage :rock so it stays nice and protected from the elements. However, one thing to consider is a storage place. I've known some people that do that. Just drive your car over and leave it there while you are out riding. It sucks to not have it with you but it's better than someone else having it!!!

This may not be what you are looking for but it's the next best thing to a garage I would think. Check out http://www.cycleshell.com for more info.

BTW, I saw a cover for an R1 somewhere on the net that was the same color blue and had a big R1 across it. Now I can't seem to find the site that had 'em. Does anybody recall who might have these?

I'd advise against the bright cover that says R1. It would just attract thieves, especially if there looking to grab a sportbike. Just get a dark bike cover (maybe a bit ratty looking) that has no logos on it (or a Honda logo, that would put thieves off) :)

I agree with the previous post... (except the Honda part):p Get a bike cover and make it look as junky as possible. Maybe throw some paint specks on it to give it that ratty look. And get the biggest chain you can find...

PrizmP, I have the Scorpio system. The pager doesn't have much range when there are a lot of obstructions (walls). I have set it off plenty of times, but it has never been tested by a thief. :)
