Was there a recall on the starter? If there was a recall, and your bike hasn't had it changed, you might be able to get it replaced. If there wasn't a recall, I'd suggest that the std Factory Warranty of X months applies as per the initial purchase.

As I'm unaware of any bike that has any more than a 12 month warranty (maybe BMW has a 3 year warranty), and it is now 7+ years old I'd suggest your completely out of luck trying to claim it under any type of warranty.

uhhhmmm, a starter falls under wear and tear, no way is warranty gonna cover that 8 years after the bike was released..
