First of all this is not a 15 min. job but take your time and u can finish it in 1 night. Start by removing the tank, it has a quick connect fuel line and wont leak gas when you disconnect. Also buy a box of bandaids!!! Youll need them!!!

Now here is were the fun begins removing the smog plates, get a good alan wrench, the bolts have thread locker from hell on them so its slow going but just think about when your done.

The smog plates alone should produce at least two to three horsepower because your getting a cooler air charge in the airbox.

Ive seen Gixxer 1k pump out as much as 4 HP on the dyno with a piar valve mod so I am optimistic about 2 HP on the R1:beer
