TRY THIS

Just before you buy an R1 Try this,,, get on your BMX don't forget to put a helmet on and maybe some gloves and full leathers with padding,,, now tie a rope on the handlebars,,, tie it to the back of your mates R1 and tell him to HIT IT,,,, if you can handle that you will be ready for an R1,,, good luck,,,,,:rock

dude believe me..

if you never tryd any kind of bike tghen dont use a R1 to learn to ride. Cuz it will take you out for a ride.

I started 750 cc but still im not yet ready for the R1.
start 600 / 750 and learn to drive and steer first.

never rode before

Hey Bro's,
I never rode a street bike before and only rode a dirt bike for about a season and I just bought a 02 R1 and as long as you respect that bike it will respect you. If you get brave and ballsie, your just asking to reck. Ride scared but not too scared. Talk to your bike let it know you love it and it will treat you good.:thumbup

I started on a pocket bike when i was 2 yrs old. Then I got a 25cc dirt bike, then a 50cc dirt bike. Then a 75cc dirt bike, then a 100cc dirt bike then a 125cc dirt bike. Then I got a 125cc sportbike, then I got a 150cc sport bike then a 175cc etc... I kept getting 25cc more until finally now I am with the R1

I bought my '99 R1 last Feb. First bike ever... It's a very simple mindset I keep... NEVER forget the power connected to your right wrist, be a good boy and you'll be fine...

Definitely...don't let these guys tell you that you've bought too much bike for yourself. Just be smart about it and you'll do fine. Don't forget the power you can dish out on the right...and the clutch on the left! :bash
