I bought an arai astral and was fitted by a aria rep. I know it is supposed to break in some but when it is on my head I feel really itchy and when I go around 120 the breath gaurd touchs my nose.

Has anyone else had a problem where the straps with the double d's doesn't come down very far making it hard to do the straps. I owned an hjc and a kbc before and didn't have any problems with the straps.

Maybe I am just experiencing post purchase dissonance.

I haven't had any of my Arai's touch my nose even at 150. So far I like the D-ring system better than the others.

Mines tight enough that if I open my mouth I bite my cheeks when I close it.

I've had properly fitted Arais touch my nose in certain circumstances. This is not unheard of. You might have a big nose, bro!

As for itching, get a HeadSweats Coolmax Skullcap and wear it under your helmet. Keeps your head cool and comfortable, and keeps your helmet stink-free.

Either that or get a Suomy Spec-1R Extreme, it kicks ass. :fact

I used to have an Arai and it touched my nose sometimes too. I think that is just the way they fit some faces.

I just ordered a Moose CoolMax Stubby myself for the anti-sweat/anti-stink factor.

Also my Arai touches my giant schnoz at 140+ (depends on how windy also). As for the straps they work fine, did you try other similar models to see if maybe the strap on yours is a little messed up? If you're not happy take it back, but it does take some time to break in. Mine was extremely tight in the beginning, but it loosened up nicely (kind of like this chic I know)

btw my helmet is a quantum/e

I agree. Could just be a matter of helmet design and your features. Other than it being itchy is it uncomfortable. I had a helmet that was too small, and it gave me a splitting headache after a couple hours.

If you are still in doubt about the size of your helmet, or more specifically, your reservations as to its size, who better to ask than your girlfriend?

you might want to try on some different helmets...

Arai fits some people better, shoei others, some like agv, others like suomy. I tried on many helmets before I decided that arai was what I would be using permanently
