To all the 02'R1 owners, is it normal when you turn on the engine, the engine light comes on momentarily, and no I'm not talking bout when you turn the key on, I meant when you actually push the start button(i.e. ignition switch) and the engine light stays on until it turn over? Is this ok, does this happen to everyone?

Mine does it. Don't know exactly why, but I figure it is normal. Could just be the voltage drop when the battery is cranking the motor over. Don't really know just seams reasonable.

my 02 does it also, im sure its a normal feature, i wouldnt worry, i would only worry if it stays on while riding, as an automotive tech with 13 years of exp, i always follow the simple rule dude, if it aint broke, dont fix it. Why it is staying on is more than likely a system check, my 99 vstar did the same thing, as does my 2000 HD dyna, all normal, nothin too worry about

I believe this is normal. My 02 does the same thing until the motor fires.

It's running a system test. If something screwwed up the engine light will come on and flash a code or something :fact It's in the manneul

This is normal.
When the engine first starts up the ECM goes through
a diagnostic routine to ensure that all sensors are working properly.
If the diagnistic routine fails then the light stays on signalling a problem with the EFI system.:hellobye
