GUS THE SUPER PIMP

Gus had a 98 R1, and now has a 02 R1. He is super fly...lol He makes 3 mile long wheelies look like tying your shoes.....no big deal. he is one of the smoothest riders I have seen.

motor is far from done. I need MONEY!!! LOL I Just rode an 02 triumph Tiger (with like 50 miles on it) from Oklahoma City to Atlanta Georgia (850 miles one way) to pick up a truck for my boss Gerald Tims. I made the trip for free, and in return he is going to let me order the parts I need and pay them out as I get money. I still need to save about a grand before I start ordering anything.

How do you know Gus?

I LOVE PARTS!!!

Gus is a cool MOFO...lol

I need a new crank, rods, main bearings, rod bearings, head gasket (the thinner one) ...etc

I want to mill the head also while it is apart. I would like to get a set of the Falicon Knife edge rods, they are plenty expensive though.

Hope to have the lips of my wheels polished while it is apart. Also got one of Robert's Tach faces, and am getting a little chrome "THE MAN" sticker made for it. Gonna get a few things powder coated also. I had painted the engine covers, but the heat has killed the clear coat. I want to get them redone.

Just so you know GUS SUCKS...lol I hate riding with him. He is too good, I cannot keep up with him. He is the first guy I ever saw do a side saddle wheelie and stoppie. I was doing the best tank wheelie of my life and I rode it pretty good, I set it down and here goes GUS by me doing a tank wheelie that he picked up the same time I picked up mine, way higher and way slower. I was like SHAFT!!! haha It's all in fun. A fork seal blew out on Gus one day while we were out on a group ride. His front tire was covered in oil. He stood up and bounced the front end up and down about 50 times, then takes off on a big ass wheelie. I was like what the hell were you doing, he says I was trying to get all the fluid out so I could wheelie. I thought he was crazy...haha:finger

man, what a crazy bastard hehehe
I wish I had some guys like that to ride around here with.
one guy I ride with has a busa and he is the only one in our group that does wheelies besides me
I just got my bike in dec. always had dirtbikes but this is the first streetbike in a while, like 9 years so when I met up with him and saw him do them I started working at it right away, I learn pretty quick haven't wrecked yet dont plan on it but the other guy has wrecked his bus twice on the street (both wheelies)once at a track day
did you start learning them on your r1 or on a smaller cc
bike? which is easier?
I am guessing you did not win the motor on ebay
and why are you doing so much to the motor
why not just leave the guts stock the rods in these motors can withstand pretty close to 200hp
check www.2wf.com for some parts I have seen a set of flatslides on there with the attack ram air for around 1g
just trying to point out they have a diverse amount of used stuff

WHEELIES

My first bike was a Kawasaki 454 LTD, it lived for two weeks. I tried wheelieing it. My next bike was a Yamaha Virago. I wheelied it a bunch. I replaced the transmission twice, and the drive shaft once. I finaly made my way to a beautiful (to me) Honda 647 Hawk GT. I wheelied the hell out of that bike. i broke the clutch basket three times. I knew it was broke cause when it broke it would mangle up the ignition trigger and the motor would cut out and then die and not re fire. way too many wheelies on that bike.

I think it is better to learn on a less powerful bike. It will teach you to balance better. You just have so much less to work with it really forces you to learn to do it right. The bigger bikes will wheelie longer and faster with the same skill. they have crazy tall gearing making it possible to keep it up longer even if you don't balance well. problem is when you screw up a wheelie on a big bike your doing 70+mph, on a small bike your doing 40MPH :):thumbup

PARTS

As far as the motor goes, i didn't get the motor off of E-bay. the guy wanted way too much for a motor I think was not legit.

I have to get a new crank and new rods no matter what. I could have my crank fixed, but it would cost more than a new crank. A stock r1 crank is only $330 retail. That is way cheap. I get all my stuff at dealer cost, or 10% over cost for Yamaha stuff. I streached the stock rods once, and I would think I would do the same to more stock rods. I would like to build the motor up a bit. i want to run a 9.99 at 140+. I really want that.

Really I want to get the head worked on a bit. I want the exaust ports polished, the back of the valves polished, the combustion chambers polished. I want the intakes cleaned up. I want the head angle milled. I want to see an honest 145-150 RWHP.

Man I am jonesing to ride so bad I cannot handle it. I was happy to ride the Tiger to Atlanta just to be able to ride...lol It will be up soon.

what did ole gus learn on?
