New to the forum. Just bought a used 02 r1 with approx 8k on it. She is clean and never been down. Havent got to ride her for more than 5 minutes thanks to winter time. But as always gives me a chance to save up $$.
I did 3 track days last year on my cbr 954 and am admittedly hooked. Looking forward to more at midohio this coming year. I still ride the street often and don't anticipate starting a racing career anytime soon. Here is a list of mods I am going to do but I wanted to see if there was input from the forum on this year of R1 and things I should look for or any recommendations. (my wife is going to kill me if she sees this list $$$ lol) Thanks all and have a happy thanksgiving!

Scotts Steering damper (still need mounting bracket)
Extra set of rims (one for street/one for track)
Racing plastics (preferably hotbodies or sharkskins)
K & N Filter ( or BMC ???)
New oil, springs if necessary and gold valves for front forks
Penske rear shock ???
power commander

Thanks for the help and input everyone. Everything on the bike is mint except for the chain. I am a little worried about the fact that there is little to no chain lube on the rear rim chain side or on the chain guard. Which leads me to think I will be looking at replacing the chain and possibly the sprockets. So I was curious about which chain to buy....typed into the r1 search engine and about a thousands threads!!! once again R1 forum comes through
