spool has broken off on right side and am tired of breaking drill bits. want to know if lifting bike like this (see pics)will cause any damage to wheel,frame,etc...

no your ok. That doesn't even touch the wheel or frame or anything important for that matter. It is going through the wheel axle which is just a giant bolt

Looks like a great idea. I dont think you will have a problem. The weight of the bike is on the axle when its on the ground and shouldnt be any different with the position of the tube. Youll be fine!!!

And what kind of spools do you keep breaking? Maybe go to your local hardware store and tell them what kind of bolt you need in the highest grade\strength, and you shouldnt have a problem. I have noticed that Yamahas use a M6 bolt for there spools, where Suzuki uses an M8 which is a pretty considerable difference. If your confident in your skills with a tap, just tap the holes out and use a bigger bolt!

that is probably actually better than spools...better control in the bigger picture. easier to hook up too and less chance to scratch the swingarm

I lift mine like that all the time with my old LP stand. I just slide a bar through one side of the stand, the bike, then the other side of the stand before even holding the bike upright. Push down on the stand and that's it.

Ofcourse it doesn't work for wheel removal, but it's good for cleaning and servicing!!

basic maintenance-chain lube,oil change etc...broken bolt on right spool keeps me from using swingarm spools. had to find an alternative way so.....

bought bike used and found out it was busted inside when i tried to put on new spools.

For those limited uses, it should be fine.

buy a reverse threaded drill bit or a left handed thread drill bit*(same thing) that will help with that. if you are real comfy you might just trill and tap out to a 8m bolt. we drilled my f4 for spools to a 10m

all you have to do is go to sears and look for a bolt extractor...what you do is drill the bolt that is in there with a fine drill bit and use the matching extractor and turn the old bolt out...I had mine break and ended up just going to the hardware store and get some strong bolts to replace them after I extracted the broken bolt.
