Does anyone here have any experience with matte finish helmets? I was wondering how they hold up with the Sun/UV rays, do they fade over time or yellow? How about bug splatter, easy to clean off or does it stain easily? I ride every day so it will see a lot of both.

I had a matte finished Icon alliance lid for a little over two years. The shell was covered in what seemed like a thin rubberized material rather than a paint coat. Maybe thats what "rubatone" was. Its showed smudges easily and had to be cleaned with a lint free cloth, but I never experienced any fading or yellowing.

I've got the Scorpion EXO-700 with a sliver/black matte finish. I think it's called Rivet for the one I have. No problems at all with cleaning. It's held up fine for the past three years.

Thanks for the info everybody. I didn't think there would be a problem with that rubbery matte finish, but then you never know how something will hold up.

I wear an arai rx7 corsair with the matte black finish. It doesn't clean as easily as my old one that was shinny but it isnt bad. It still looks new it has not faded or yellowed. I have about 30k miles on this one and plan to replace it with the same helmet.
