General Manager: Holden Is Replacing Montez Stewart On Jordan Suzuki Team
Oct 27, 2005

Copyright 2005, Roadracing World Publishing, Inc.

This just in via e-mail from Ken Abbott, General Manager of Michael Jordan Motorsports Suzuki, regarding Jake Holden joining the team:

Jake was offered the 3rd position on the Jordan Suzuki team next to Jason Pridmore and Steve Rapp. Pending contract signing, the plan would be for Holden to race both Superstock and Superbike classes on a Jordan Suzuki Superstock machine, (same as Rapp).

The Jordan Suzuki team will continue to focus on Suzuki GSXR-1000 equipment only, with technical support from Gemini Technology, Yoshimura, Dunlop, and BPD (Ammar Bazzaz). 2006 Team sponsors will continue to also include Brand Jordan apparel, Joe Rocket, Upper Deck, Hanes Underwear, Gatorade, Oakley, MMI/UTI, Vortex, Arai Helmets and several other key product sponsors.

Montez Stewart has been a valuable asset to the Jordan racing effort over the past 2 seasons, and we will continue to help Tez find opportunities in the sport. It is important for Tez to continue working on his riding skills, and stay dedicated to the sport and himself. He has a contributed a significant value to the sport of road racing, and inspired many people to continue chasing their dreams. The sport of AMA Superbike (road racing) has a new life thanks to Montez Stewart and James Casmay's efforts to get Michael Jordan involved, and we owe it to them to continue to create more opportunities for everyone involved.

Jordan Code:
"Be AUTHENTIC and true to your passion and yourself."
"Be UNCOMPROMISED in your demand for excellence...From yourself and others."
"EARN your success by working hard and bringing your best game every day."
"ASPIRE to be, and do, more than what is expected."

now jordans gonna get in trouble with the naacp...
LMAO. Where's the bitching and grandstanding from Calipso Louie and The Reverend Al Sharpton :crash
I know I talked smack about Montez before, but I give him mad props for having the balls to get out there. Hell if Jordan called me today and said I need you to ride AMA supersport for me, I'd be on the way. Shhheeit, I'd even make my own last place trophy's for every race. "Last to Lose" I'd be the absolute greatest loser at every race. That ought to count for something.
Hell Yeah, let's start up a Loser Racing Team. I'm in! :rock

How long before Jordan is called a "sell-out"?
Don't think that will ever be said.MJ is all about winning and besides its a business and having said that MJ has to make tuff decissions.
Haven't you guys ever considered the possibility that maybe it was Montez's decision to leave.

Certainly, money is not an issue for Mr. Jordan. He could field a 10 rider team if he wanted. Montez was not fired. Most of us subconsiously want to believe that he was fired. That is our subconsious way of justifying our hidden jealousy towards him for getting a ride, and yet, not being that much more talented than the average "fast" club racer.

tez got to live a dream that most of us could never know. he wasnt up to par compared to most of the ama grid, but could probably smoke 99% of our asses any day of the week.

;) Guys i think we all knew it was coming especially if we kept up with the 04 05 season love the guy met him personally at Barber this year take care Montez.
Personally I'd like to thank Tez for bringing MJ into the sport :fact They took a start team on a limited budget that first year and turned it into something. We've built MJ a bunch of bikes in the past and I'm know for a fact from talking with him that Tez is a HUGE reason MJ is in the sport. Tez wasn't and isn't actually a "last" place AMA rider... also I think he got 26th in points for Superstock and at a few of the races I watched him he was never last....

just because you finished ahead of some one, doesn't mean you weren't the slowest bastard on the track........

it could mean a couple of the fast guys crashed out.....

:fact

Montez got to do something 99.99999999999999999% of people never will.
He got paid to do something he loved.

Was he good at it? Not at the level he competed at, but who cares.
He was at that level because he had the ability to do something 99.9999999999999% of riders fail at miserably. He sold himself and his idea to someone who knew nothing about the sport, but had the sense to see a great business opportunity.

If more "racers" had the ability to work the BUSINESS side of the sport, it might actually be as popular as say........MOTOCROSS maybe?

instead we get people like the "Go Show" (or was that the NO SHOW), Aaron "head butt the Bastard" Yates, and the like who might be some of the fastest and most talented riders in the world, yet couldn't act in a professional manner to save their life.

Racing is a business, and Montez was able to bring something to the sport that very few can ever dream of.
An outside sponsor with worldwide instant recognition and credibility.

Find another rider whose done that lately...................

He may have been slower than most, he may have crashed repeatedly, and he may have just sucked.
But he did it.
