Quite simple -- removed the hose that connects the crankcase breather to the airbox, and replaced it with this $10 air filter from Autozone. Why? Because I don't like the idea of crankcase air going into my engine. And if it reduces pressure in the crankcase and lets the pistons rev more freely, all the better! :hellobye

You might want to make that hose a little longer and put the filter up near the air box.

You'll be able to smell the oil vapour when the bike is hot and you are waiting at the lights and stuff too.

Just that its a well made piece of equipment and that I know its functioning correctly. As far as HP gains or anything else related to performnace, my guess is as good as yours. It's hard to notice a small change in performance on a machine thats already this powerful. But it certainly makes sense in theory anyway.

Your setup will work better than stock, but you might want use some hose and move the filter out more so that when some oil comes out of it, it doesnt go all over your engine block. :riding

Still better than dumping all that hot crankcase air back into your air box.

That's kind of what I was thinking, but I'm definitely curious to hear fiveoh's thoughts....

Basically, on the filtered side of the airbox there is going to be lower than ambient pressure. This will draw vapors out of the crankcase. With your current set-up the crankcase vapor has to push its way through that filter, which does cause some restriction (not much). What you have there will definitely allow it to escape (also possibly oil, as others mentioned). The best solution is to pull the vapors out using either an air pump (EG: from the AIS) or my plan to use exhaust flow.
