Sounds crazy. They should be replacing it. If it helps in the troubleshooting effort, I’d be happy to share info/data from my setup. I’m not riding slow, I can hang with the top expert guys in our local race org.
Thanks. We’ll see. He is telling me a replacement unit will do the same thing. I feel at least we should try 1 or 2 fresh units; weird that it’s JUST my bike. 😑
So Aim sent me a “loaner” unit to try on my bike; they felt sending me a new unit would produce the same problems and then they would have two used timers to deal with. I tried the loaner at high revs/speed and it worked fine. They gave me the option of waiting until they had a new unit to swap out with me (no time estimate given) or let me keep the loaner with a fresh case and full warranty. I chose to keep the loaner since I know it works and I get full warranty. It also has the magnets on the back which the newer one doesn’t. They will send me a shipping label tomorrow, I’ll send the timer to get a new case, and should have it back before my next track day at the end of the month. Whew!
Out of the blue at the track today my Solo2 started recording 20-30 seconds laps like OP. This is after being sent a brick to begin with and having it fixed. What a POS.

Aaarrgh! What a pisser! The tech that was helping me mentioned they have been having issues with EM interference. Any chance you can contact Aim to help, or is it way too late?
What track are you riding? I just got to test my replacement timer at Carolina Motorsports Park today. It actually did not find the track automatically as it should have, but maybe the memory may have been cleared-I have to connect to the laptop when I get back home and check. I was able to “create “ a new track and save it. After that the timer seemed to work well. I checked with a couple of other riders that were using lap timers and the lap times match-up.
If you can’t get the Aim timer fixed will you looking for another one? Wondering what other gps timers are supposed to be decent.

Interesting on the EM interference. What was strange is it would record the first lap and then it would display garbage timing. I was coaching a guy and he ask what times we were doing so I went into the memory and those lap times for that session were stored though mixed in with a bunch of garbage 1 lap record setting sessions.
As for getting it fixed, it’s been down and has some scuffing which I assume Aim would point out (it’s been working fine). I know some on here have had success with I2M but I think they have the dash replacement. I have my eyes on the I2M MiniLap R. I like the size of it too. I’m just looking to gauge my lap times, not looking for data logging or anything.
I was at High Plains Raceway outside of Denver. One of my home tracks and I’ve used this timer there many times and it just worked. Roll up, track auto identified, ride..
This is my second issue with the timer. Hopefully others read this when they are in the market and pause. Not saying the competitors devices are any better, just saying the Solo2 has some major issues.
Yep- these are not inexpensive items, and if they don’t work for the intended use…WTF?!?!
I read where iPhone cameras (latest few versions, anyway) can be damaged by mounting on a “high powered “ motorcycle from vibration at specific frequencies.
