just bought a 2005 yamaha r1. its the red paint scheme. bought it new from the dealer for 10k. already put 300 miles on it. painstakingly getting through the break in period. Love it its a blast. people damn near drive on top of me to see it. so far ive got a "thats a ****ing awesome bike", "sweet ride", and even a "thats a badass bike". glad to be here look forward to learning all i can about this machine.

Congratulations , that was a great deal for an 05. You really need to be safe on that bike but you also need to find any weak spots in it before the warrenty is up. Some of the 05's are spinning crank bearings. I babied mine up to 1000 km, then started to work it harder. Spun the crank bearing at 4000 Km. Fixed under warrenty now it works great.
