I'm located in Phoenix and recently purchased a used R1. The battery is on its way out. My local shop quoted me $96.00. Not sure if there is an internet site that sells them a bit cheaper.

The only prob that I have run into is....

is that it seems to be a yamaha specific part. I tried calling around and people kept telling me that I had to go to the dealer for it. :( who knows, I'll try the batteries online idea

This thread is a bit old, but I was wondering if it IS possilbe to use the el cheapo batteries from wal mart, sears..etc...??? Seeing how the stock r1 battery is sealed type and the el cheapo's are not sealed? Does it make a difference?

Cool, I actually found out that I don't need a new batt.

I was learning how to do a ton of slow riding and the alternator deal couldn't keep the battery charged. Since I've been out on the open road it has been fine. I'll keep my fingers crossed though.
