Need help working out the kinks

I recently installed an '01 motor in my '00 frame.
I used the carbs and starter from my '00 motor. The bike starts just fine but something just doesn't seem right.
If I'm stopped at a light the bike idles kinda high (~2500-3000 rpm).
Also the bike just doesn't feel like it has that kick that it had when you would roll on the throttle, I couldn't get the bike to go any faster than 140 mph, last year I could get her up to 165 mph before I lost the nerve.
Just wondering if there could be anything I missed with the exup valve and should I have the carbs cleaned and synchronized?
I tried pulling some 2nd gear wheelies and as soon as the front tire got off the ground it would come right back down no matter how much throttle I gave it.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sound sto me like your throttle might not be opening all the way....

Take the tank off and interogate the carbs, make sure that when you have the juice all the way open that you can't move the linkage "open" anymore.....

Clean and sync aswell for smooth running...

If this ain't it let us know....
Throttle is opening all the way, I had the carbs sychronized (they were all over the place) and I threw in a new set of plugs. I live in Wisconsin and the weather sucks right now so I haven't had a chance to put her out on the road yet. The bike does sound alot better though.

Do you mean that bike won't run under 2500 RPMs? Did you set the idol adjustment? Did you calibrate the EXUP when you installed the headers?
It will run under 2500 rpm but I did not calibrate the exup because I didn't know how, can you give me any tips on doing the calibration.

Just turn the idol down using the idol set screw knob. To be honest I havn't adjusted the EXUP before (have full exhaust). I have read about how to do it in the manual. It doesn't appear to be too tricky. Check this thread (sticky in mechanical forum) to download the manual... http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1091
