OK, I blew my motherboard, so I replaced it, the CPU and the RAM.

Now I can not get Win XP to work.

I went from an Athelon 1200+ to an Athelon XP 2800+

From 512 SDRAM to 512 DDR

and the motherboard is a SOYO Dragon (I have no clue what the old one was.

All I get after the BIOS loads is a blue screen saying to check for a virus, or call tech support.

Anyone have any ideas?

If that doesn't work, run a repair on Windows XP. The new hardware may not work because of the NT kernal and HAL from the previous hardware. Good luck.

Not on XP or 2k. You would only need a complete new HAL if you were going from say a single CPU to a dual one. Both of these OSes will dynamically reconfigure themselves based on available hardware. Every time these OSes boot they run a hardware detect.

Overall my advice to you on this is to rebuild the OS since you replaced the old mobo with a new one. I've never liked how Winderz handles replacing system drivers on that level.

Don't reload dude...just run a repair.

Boot up from CD. When you get the first option to repair using recovery console, bypass it by hitting Enter.
Then, you'll get a license agreement (EULA),hit F8, then it should auto detect the Windows already installed and ask if you would like to repair it. Hit R for repair.
You will need your XP CD key.
It basically installs Windows over itself.
Good luck

there is also another way of repairing windows like psychoblue said.
when you come to the agreement hit F8. then you will have a few options. r=repair, enter=continue, and esc=exit. press enter to continue. windows will then search for any already installed operating systems. It will find your previous version of XP. then press "r" for repair. and it will repiar windows for you. I had to do this to 3 computers last week so i know it works. Thanks
