To profile or not to profile

To ensure we Americans never offend anyone -- particularly any fanatics intent on killing us -- airport screeners are not allowed to profile people. They will, however, continue to perform random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, Secret Service agents who are members of the President's security detail, and 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips.

Let's pause a moment and take the following test...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In 1972, 11 Israeli athletes were killed at the Munich Olympics by:
(a) Grandma Moses;
(b) The night cleaning crew at Rockefeller Center;
(c) Invaders from Mars; or
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.
In 1979, the U.S. embassy in Iran was taken over by:
(a) Norwegians from the Lichen Herbarium of the University of Oslo;
(b) Elvis;
(c) A tour bus full of 80-year-old women; or
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.
In 1983, the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by:
(a) A pizza delivery boy;
(b) Crazed feminists complaining that having to throw a grenade beyond its own burst radius in basic training was an unfair and sexist job requirement;
(c) Geraldo Rivera making up for a slow news day; or
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.
In 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by:
(a) Luca Brazzi, for not being given a part in "Godfather 2";
(b) The Tooth Fairy;
(c) Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid, who had a few sticks of dynamite left over from their train mission; or,
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.
In 1993, the World Trade Center was bombed by:
(a) The entire cast of "Cats";
(b) Martha Stewart;
(c) Cheeze-crazed tourists from Wisconsin
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.
In 1998, the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by:
(a) Mr. Rogers;
(b) Hillary, to distract attention from Wild Bill's women problems;
(c) The World Wrestling Federation to promote its next villain: "Mustapha the Merciless"; or
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.
On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked and destroyed by:
(a) Bugs Bunny, Wil E. Coyote, Daffy Duck, and Elmer Fudd.
(b) The US Supreme Court, trying to outdo their hijacking of the 2000 Presidential election
(c) Grandmother and granddaughter going to Grand Bahama Island on vacation
(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.
Hmmm...nope, no patterns here.
Damned if I know why we should ever
even think about profiling....
Like i said, i don't necessarily agree. i just think it's funny..
Actually, i think i do agree. :thumbup.
Patrioticly (sp?) yours,
Very true, however muslims are not the only terrorist in the world, there is many explanations for why on each side is acting so harsh. I happen to have an international satellite for european racing and soccer. You also catch the middle eastern channel Al Jazeera, and it is not all what the US claims it to be. Muslim terrorist should go, but when you see why fuels them, I must take some blame and pass it onto the US. All in all to be politically correct with the profiling is to abolish it from security, however we all know that the workers themself can distinguish if your last name is muslim, to check and double check.
Cant look at only one side of the problem, both sides have there reasons, but the extemist who take it out of hand are the ones that should be stopped. Weve had unabombers and timothy mcveigh, and the russians have there terrorist along with asians. But all in all, profiling will just give the terrorist loop holes, who says a little old lady cant be a suicide bomber, its hard to tell whos from who...when your dealing with OPEC funded terrorist, everyone has a price, and they certainly can pay it. i think its right for them not to profile.
yeah, i think the problem is people are failing to see Muslim is a religion, not an ethnicity... ANY one can be Muslim not just men/women from the middle east..
Muslims are peaceful and productive members of society, just like the rest of us and I agree in that it's the extremists who are bombing women, children and anything they can to get noticed that are tarnishing the image of the rest. It's not uncommon through out history for factions to go to "war" in the name of something holy.
You know what they say, "one bad apple spoils the whole damn bunch."
Hell, my girlfriend and almost her entire family are Muslim. It's nothing like the media is making it out to be.
For me its not the muslims, jews, blacks, or whites doing this shit. I tend to look at who directly benefits from these "random acts of terrorism" and whos footin the bill for this shit. If you dig deep enough, it will scare you.:machinegu
where are you going with that Dank?
I just don't swallow what the TV bimbo tells me at 6 everynight, I never will , about anything. Going clear back to the 40's and so on. It always seems theres someone to benefit greatly for all international events that we all assume are accidents.
I'm sure every race, religion, or culture can be sited for wrongdoings, but it is easier to point the finger when there is a common enemy with fewer numbers. It's so easy for some people to stereotype all Muslims as "terrorists", but to stereotype all Catholics as child molesters would be considered foolish.
I agree. I don't believe what is reported either. The gov. never tells us what the truth really is. They only tell us what they think will raise support, not what will cause controversy. I just thought that you were implying that the gov. was somehow behind this shit so they could turn a profit.
have you ever heard of the CFR "council on foreign relations" or "trilateral commission" if not, please buy a book about them and read up. They do exist, they even print a listing of their members. Its funny to see exactly who the members are and what "business" they're in.
And to take a look back at the history and origins of the groups will amaze you.
the CFR is the american branch of the old "royal institute for international affairs" see who's in that one too.
