Hi Andy, and welcome to the chaos. :) It usually Twisted Logic who says that but he's not here at the moment, so you are kinda stuck with a "chick" :). Okay, if you look to the left of your screen on the forums page you will see the "links" area, right in the communities section. Just click on that and it will bring you to a list of sites that are R1 related.
I'm sorry I can't help you by putting any on this post, but the ones I look at are usually right off the links page myself and I don't know anymore other than assorted general sportbike sites. :) More than likely, with you owning 2 bikes, you know alot more than I do. :)

i was just wondering if anyone knew of any other r1 sites. thanks andy
There are quite a lot of sites in the web, which are devoted to the R1, but most of them are personal sites. As much webspace is free of charge, many personal sites are created and than forgotten, which means, that many hearses populate the web.

Anyhow, I like to give a few urls. If you are interested in more, let me know.

This R1-Forum is Sweden-based. There is another extensive swedish website, a private and very personal one, which is recommended to visit:

http://fly.to/berniebecklestone

The German R1-Yamaha-Club closed its site three or four weeks ago. An alternative to that place was created during the last weekend, and forum and chat are now up and running there:

http://r1club.de

One of the creators of this site, Nina, has an own website dedicated to motorcycling, mainly R1:

http://www.nina.hippo.de/

Jørund Seim from Copenhagen was riding an R1. Since he visited the Nürburgring, his site became very much ring-related, offering downloads of many videos from that track:

http://www.motorcycle-dk.com/

Some british sites:

http://www.yamaha-yzfr1.co.uk/
http://www.yamaha-r1.co.uk/
http://yzfr1.co.uk/

From Ireland:

http://r1pilot.sportbikeworld.com/index.html

No longer maintained is this US technical site:

Some US sites:

http://www.yzf-r1.com/explorer/html/index-e.html
http://www.r1world.homestead.com/
http://photo.popmonkey.com/98r1/

One link from Belgium:

and two from Holland:

Woo! that's a bunch Northlander!
But still I think that R1-Forum is the sharpest :D

And BTW, this forum is NOT mainly Swedish. It has a Swedish founder. That doesn't mean Swedish members only.

I probably did not express myself clearly enough:

Of course, this forum is open to everyone, and there are members from all over the world. I just wanted to say, that it has been founded in Sweden, or better by a swedish motorcyclist, i.e. Swedie.

I also did not want to express any preference. It is up to any individual to choose his personal site of preference.

The urls I gave are just a selection of what has been bookmarked by me exploring the web. There are a couple more, but they are mostly personal sites and not all of them in English. Many have things to tell, but others have been unchanged since a lot of time.

If you explore the sites I gave, you will discover more.

I saw your site, rus, and its really, really nice! :)
I love the way you have the pictures set up. Its very easy to get the bio on the bike/owner and all the different views of the bike.
Great looking site. :D

1) I did not mention Rus's site, because it is listed in the link section.

2) I also did not mention the mother of the Forums, because that address should be known.

3). The swedish site I mentioned in the beginning of the list, is in English as well. No problems for you to understand most of the text (more pages are in German and less in Swedish on that site).

I have a lot of more links, but it would probably be better, to publish a list in the web instead of writing it down here. I also got notice, that someone is making a complete list of r1-related links.
