Considering Yoshimura TRS race slip on and my question is will bolting this on without a PCIII result in popping and backfiring? If it does I guess I'll save up for a full Akro and the PCIII. Just anxious to have it sound sweet without spending much $$$. Thanks in advance.

I'd have to agree. When I bought my micron. I installed the PCIIIr at the same time as the pipe. The first day I rode the bike with the Micron I left the stock map in the PCIIIr so I could check for a difference. It pop a lot with the stock map and ran like crap until I loaded the micron map that evening when I got home. Alot of people say a PCIII is not needed with a slip on but I believe it helps a whole helluva alot.

I purchased a Graves slip-on and installed it on my bike I then fired up the engine and it popped like crazy when I grabbed a hand full of throttle. I then load the Graves map on my pcIII and no popping. Looks like the new R1 will need a pcIII regardless of full or Slip-on for top performance.

Not the full solution please read

The real way to get rid of ALL the backfiring is not just the map, it has more to do with the clean air injection system installed on your bike - I finally did mine and it works - I will post the procedure on a second thread- please look for it by searching SCUD - I will post it now - later I'll come back to this thread and post a link...
