On vanity.........................

They say , art often imitates life. Well it's the same with vanity plates. If you have a vanity think twice about going into warp to dodge a ticket. It may end up being a felony evading charge.
You see the vanity plates are often catchy ( no pun intended ) and easy to remember. If they can get a glimpse and remember it . They'll just show up at your house later on and pick you up . You get three charges , one for speed, wreckless driving and felony evading and attempt to elude. ( Not that I'm endorsing these acts. )
Just a thought.

The solid one.

I just got mine on Monday. I know you guys will say that vanity plates are stupid, don't want the cops to get your number etc.... I don't get pulled over, and if I did I wouldn't run. So heres mine that I got for my bike.

WARPSPD

Yep, were allowed 7 characters here in Maine.:yesnod

Dude, I must agree with Solidus. I was going to get JESTR on my plate, but thought better of it.

Running from cops *shouldn't * happen anyway, but screw the cops man.... think about the other drivers!

Some ole' fogey gets on the cell phone "yea, some damn kid just sped by me on a blue crotch rocket, he did 5 wheelies, split lanes, and was going about 130 mph... I glimpsed his plate, it said -BUSTED- " :no

And in the case of a cop.... so you blow by one at 90 in a 35, not that this is a good thing, but hey, it HAS happend to me. Cop looked RIGHT at me and the bike as he got into his car. He could have seen my plate for maybe 1/8 second. It's random... but if it were a vanity... I may have been SERIOUSLY screwed.

... just sumpin' to keep in mind. :thumbup

BTW.........................

Someone, I take it that you are new here, not knowing that I am a cop. I've got much love for my biker brothers and I look out for them when I can. As for the "Tag reading training." ...............ummmmm. I don't think so.(or I fell asleep during that part of the academy) I've been a cop for 9years now (March 14th, raise baby!!!), either you saw the tag and remembered it , or you did'nt. And very few tags have a 5charachter set ,at least here. Good luck with your personalized, you might want to put it up in the wheelwell. Its prolly not legal but all you can get is a fixit tic or a warning. Here anyway.

Well, I am relatively new here, found this place maybe a month ago. But, as far as a customized plate, in Ohio, they are five characters. And if there's a city, state, or any other governing authority that has law enforcement that can't remember a plate given a good look, that's where I am moving! J/K. :)

So, if you were to put a percentage on those who you've pulled over, and those that have gotten away from you in a chase, that had a custom plate, what would this number be? Was the person who got away using a non-custom plate? Are you highway patrol, city, or sherrif/deputy?

I could see where a custom plate would be easier to remember, but "no man can out run the motorolla" (learned that in S. CA when I was in the Army on my old NightHawk S). I had multiple tickets for excess of 100mph in 55mph zones. Thank God they were on post. ;)

Thanks for your reply.

Well.....................

Aside from the fact that we have a no pursuit policy, I must admit pursuits do happen. And no matter what they say on "scariest police chases " pursuits are, what's the word:rock invigorating. Most of my profession will tell you though that chasing a bike is an exercise in futility, sorta like a cat chasing it's tail. To answer your question on my personal expierience. My technique is to basically not try to remember the whole plate number just the first three charachters. When I was on the street I would get into it with guys muling dope or in stolen cars and if the car had a personalized tag (most Dope dealers are smarter than that) then I would for sure bang him. But you have to figure, my agency has a bit over 700 sworn officers and lets just say on a midnight shift on saturday you will likely have only around 80 officers out on the street. Thats normal. Numbers can be decieving. It just seems like theres a gang of cops about when you have 6 of them asking can they search your car. Gotta go ride my bike .

My truck tag reads "THE MAN". My bike tag will read "MANSR1". I am going to get white letters above it that read "THE".

I you better have fun with this life, it's the only one you get :)
