Well folks, I took all my plastics (excluding the hugger and front fender) and tank to get them all painted, and the painter was supposed to just match the factory paint. Simple enough, right?

Wrong.

He takes a fairing to get the paint matched, and they sorta did that. They matched the blue, but with a chameleon paint. So now it looks blue when you look straight at it, but purple at an angle. Well, as you all know, the bike is nothing but angles, so it looks mostly purple. It wouldn't be so bad, except that the blue hugger and fender stand out badly. I was gonna try to live with it, but now I realize that I can't and I'm gonna let him know that someone is going to get the necessary paint AND AT LEAST paint the hugger and fender to match, and I am paying no more money. If he had called me to ask me if it was OK, or shown me a sample, it would be different. But he didn't say a freaking word until I got there to see it for myself.

I'm attaching a few pictures. I will put on stickers next week. Lemme know what you think.:rant

Man, that doesn't even look close to factory blue!! Whats wrong with those people, are they color blind? I would get the whole bike repainted, if you asked for a specific paint, and they agreed, then you should get what you painted for. Keep us updated on your final decision.

I like the paint, I would just have him repaint the hugger and fender. But, if yoiu don't like it then you need to have him repaint everything.

Dude it's not bad, I understand it's not what you were looking for but it could have been worse, did the painter cut you something off the price?
He didn't cut anything off the price. I have decided that since it was ultimately his screwup, he is going to have to fix it, most likely by painting the other pieces. The paint is different than all the other R1's, so it will work out once complete. He will have the choice of fixing it at his expense, or completely refunding my money. One of those will happen.

personally i think it looks horrible, y did u get it repainted in the first place?
I went down at the Gap last year. I fixed and replaced what I could, and touched up the scratches, but this paint job was supposed to get the bike tip-top for riding season.

Personally I kinda like it. The Yamaha blue actually has a little purple in it. Your color just stands out a little more on your bike. But it's your bike so do what makes you happy. I think it will look :boobies once the stickers are slapped on.
Just my .02 worth.
