I have been lurking around in the side all day, trying to get some info about the new R1. I think the looks of the new R1 is totally :rock !!! I had been a honda rider since I have started riding, I did consider R1 with the last generation R1's but I figured they were way too uncomfortable. So tell me pros and cons about the bike. I have already read about that paint chip problem. What else how is the ergo (I know that it is worse than 954 but can you ride long distances easly etc. etc.) handling. I would really like it if you could compare it to an older R1 or 954 which I have bought riden plenty. I appreciate the response guys. I am hoping to get a liquid silver myself, if I dont see much of rating.

Much much much more comfy than the 954. I sat on the 954 for 2 minutes and was in severe pain. The side of the seat was digging into my leg.

My only complaint is not with the bike but with the heater "sun" living in Seattle we ride on some cool days and wind protection is my only bitch. The seat is much more comfortable and on extended rides, it feels the same as a trip around the block. no discomfort here.

I was always a Honda man too, loved my 900RR, but damn bro, This silver '02 R1 is the shit. I am 6'0" and 280+. I rode over 300 miles last sunday and no probs. I almost bought a 954, but I seen one on the road, and compared to the R1 it is:ugh Come on over to the yamaha side and live in the fast lane with us:hellobye
