Ok, I have aftermarket clip ons on my bike. I am not sure of the brand, but they have a "W" engraved in the billet that clamps to the fork. I want to replace the bar ends because the ones on there just seem to be plastic, I can get the exisiting bar ends to spin (they have no external bolt), but I can't get them off. I am afraid that if I pull them off, they may not have the internal nut necessary for the new ends and then they will be all chewed up from removal.

Can anyone offer any insight?

I pulled the current plastic bar end off and I was right, there is no internal nut for the stock replacement type bar end to bolt to. Does anyone have any suggestions????

I just added bar end mirrors to my brothers 999 and it had the plastic sliders like you are talking about also. I just twisted them out with a pair of pliers with a rag wrapped around them. There wasn't anything inside of his clip ons. The plastic sliders should go right back in.

I have done that, but I want to add weighted bar ends that I purchased. I want do away with the plastic caps, but in order to do it I need to be able to bolt the new bar ends in place.

What make and model bikes does your brother have and were the bars stock. If they are I will buy a self expanding set for that bike like you are talking about.

Those are woodcraft clip ons.. you can order new bars for less than $20 from www.kneedraggers.com

however I don't know if you'll get any weighted bar ends on them... you could stuff something in the other end of them to act as a weight, but, not sure about bar ends..... I have them on my R1 and they do buzz alot, but, I guess I'm used to it

Thanks, for the information, after some Internet surfing I figured it out. I also found a self expanding (rubber sleeve) weighted bar end that should work, I love the bars but the buzzing is driving me nuts, especially with my Carpal Tunnel. I will have these other ones tomm.

I am just going to offer my riding buddies the stock replacements that I bought, and if they don't want them, I'll offer them in the Pay it Foward section. Here is a pic similar to the self expanding ones that found, it is the one on the right.

Hopefully I'll get somewhere with the rubber mounted ones. Supposedly they require no internal threaded fitting. I have used a similar set up on dirt bikes, so I think it will work. Anything is heavier than the plastic ones that came with the clip ons, so I should see some reduction in the vibes. I also replaced the bar ends on the wifes stock R6, but the stock ones are so damn heavy, I think it will be hard to get anything heavier.

Oh, by the way Martin I finally tracked down the oil leak on the R6. After replacing o rings, pump gaskets, and torking every bolt a dozen times, it was the oil cap, as you you had suggested in another thread. A new billet one did the trick, even when the stocker appeared to be fine.

Once you get your new bar ends you can go to a sporting goods store and get some lead shot to fill up the rest of the space inside your clip-ons for added weight.

That is good thinking, it probably could have even worked with the plastic bar end caps.
