Hi All,

New to the board. Just bought a 99 R1 and I'm trying to figure out a way to pick it up as it is out of state. I may rent a pickup from Enterprise, but all they have are Ram shortbeds. Anyone know first hand if it will fit or not? Thanks for any info and I look forward to contributing to the board.

you will have to kick the rear over to one side to shut the tailgate, or let some air out of the rear tire, I hauled my old R1 in my short bed ram from PA to GA with the ass kicked over to the side and I had no problems at all

Thanks for all the responses! The only issue with u-haul is what time I can pick the trailer up on Saturday. Can't pick it up Friday. If I can pick it up early Sat. then I'm golden. My buddy will lend me his Expedition and the whole trip will cost me about 40 bucks. The rented pick up would be over 200 because of the mileage. Anyhow, thanks again!

I bought my '03 out of state {South Carloina} and brought it
back to Florida in my '97 Ford F-150 Flairside. I think it has a
shorter bed than the regular Fords. I did not need to let air out
of the rear tire, but it was close. The tail gate closed with no
problem. Just be sure to use a Canyon Dancer bar harness to
across the bars and tie downs to the cleats in the truck bed.

Most Uhaul places open by 9 at the very latest even on saturdays. I rented an enclosed 5x8 from Uhaul to pick mine up and it cost me $30 for the day. I picked it up in the morning and dropped it off by 5. $24.95 for the trailer and $5 for insurance.

just leave the tailgate down...whats the big deal?? If it comes loose with the bed closed it will fall over the side anyhow!! I have been hauling my bikes all over the country wiht the gate down for the last 15 years...its not a big deal...plus the truck gets a lot better gas mileage with it down anyhow...

This topic is truely ironic. I'm picking up my 99 R1 in two weeks, but i'm not sure if it will fit in my dads pickup. He drives a 92 Chevy S10 standard (Not extended or cabed) so if you have any ideas if it will fit, please reply. Also could some one also reply with the length of the bike? That should help also, because I don't won't to rent a Uhaul, Thank you!
