Performance Yamaha in Burlington (about 15-20 miles east of Greensboro) has a blue '02 R1 on the floor. I just had to go drool over it and whet my appetite until mine arrives from another area dealer. Performance said they might have a silver one by next Wednesday or Thursday.
I was very impressed with the compact seating position on the new R1. The fuel tank is noticeably slimmer than last year's model.

I'm crushing my ... balls on the tank on my '98 R1 all the time, after I land a wheelie that is. It hurts. HEHE.
Maybe they had that in mind when making the '02 R1

Picking up mine tommorow

Picking up my Silver 2002 R1 tommorow, hope its not snowing, prepped & ready today, probably end up inside the apartment for couple weeks. Give me time to put on exhaust & damper & minor graphics. It's sweet . . . can't wait to get it! Come on Spring!
