Trying To Get Info On A Bigger Rear Sprocket On A R1, I'm Running -1, +2 , Trying To Do Some Slow Stand - Ups???? Thinking Of A 50 Or 54 Rear, Has Anyone Done This????

I went from an oem 43t to a vortex 57 tooth. It was fun when it lasted. 2nd gear felt like how 1st did. 1st gear was stupidly crazy, but i had fun with it! The larger sprocket made the chain rub when it was going through the swing arm. The chain eventually snapped on me when I was doing about 70 on the freeway.

i was just reading about a r1 with a 14 front & a 50 rear, i think im going to try this? thanks for the reply, not a lot of people gearing down r1's. nutts:

I went with a 15/49 and I think about 126 link chain. I'm doing power wheelies 1st gear sit down at 30mph no problems. Stand-ups at lower speeds. It also fits under the stock chain guard and prob room for a 52 rear.

thanks, im going with a 47 for now, dont want to do a new chain. everone on this forum acts scared to ride an r1 with changed gearing.

Any info on the place to buy the jack-up plates for an 05 R1. thanks for your help.
