I had a Vortex on the rear for a bit. Only lasted me 5,000 miles..... :( If you ride alot, get a steel sprocket. :yesnod

I'm currently running down 1 in the front (Sprocket Specialist) and a stock rear w/ a DID Gold 530 chain.

A aluminum rear will not outlast a hardened steel rear sprocket....... ever. Get the stealth.
I beg to differ :)

My original sprocket lasted about 10k miles(before I switched to 44t)and still looks great(I still have it!),and my sprocket specialists(44t),normal,aluminium,not heat-threated,bottom of the line rear lasted 50k miles and still looks good (has been replaced for a 41t)...

A scottoiler does wonders for the life of a sprocket.

I don't understand Martin, you say you've removed the stock sprocket at 10k but it still looks great and your sprocket specialists lasted 50k and still looks great, it looks like you like the scottoiler but it doesn't prove that aluminum will outlast steel. If aluminum outlasted steel they would use it in your gearbox wouldn't they.

I changed the stock one for sake of changing gearing, then changed the 44t for a 41t for sake of top speed and tire wear and lower sound emitting in city.

I still have them all...in fact,I got a whole range of sprockets :)

Yes,a Scottoiler does wonders.

I may be doing something good in the chain slack and care dept then!
