I'm not interested in the room (I don't even live in the US) I'm just curious to know what a room like that would be rented for? How much did you pay for the property in total? If I may ask of course.

The house I'm renting we pay $2300/mo. For a nice 3 bedroom house in a nice neighborhood (nice by LA standards) on the west side of LA, this is cheap.
Most houses like this are currently selling for $350,000 - $400,000. Back home in upstate NY this same house would sell for maybe $70,000.

holy shite, that about $AUS4500 per month.
For that sort of money you could rent a nice house in western Sydney and still have enough left over for a different girl every night of the week.
Or you could pay cash for a new 02 R1 every four months (in AUS the 02 R1's are going for $9000US with all dealer and goverment charges included - or $8600US plus charges).

eish. ok 2300US$ per month - hmm that's like ZAR23000 per month! I bought my house (2 bedroom, garden garage, carport etc etc )in a cluster for 17500US$!! And it's in a great area (upmarket! heheh for 23K a month I could live in a freakin mansion over here! Gotta love those exchange rates! :machinegu :fact
