i just picked up an 2007 r1 to replace the 2005 r6 i previously owned until a 70 something year old man pulled out in front of me and i had to lay it down.. anways, the steering seems to be a bit tight.. i didn't have a stabilizer on my R6, so at first i figured i just needed to get use to it, but after doin' some readin' cause it really makes my forearm and tricep do some work, do y'all think it needs oil, replaced, taken off altogether?

my 07 stabilizer is stock as well but feels fine, could be tighter personally. something isnt right with yours from the sounds of it. did you lay the 07 down or the R6 or both im a bit confused on that, if the R1 went down, check the stabilizer itself. bent maybe? take the stabilizer off, see how she feels then. that will eliminate that possibility
