yesterday i was ridiing my 01 r1 and over bumps and hard braking , it felt like the steering neck is loose ,but the triple tree nut is tight,and it , i was thinking that maybe the spannaer nuts that are located under the tree might be loose, if anyone out there has expierienced this problem and how to fix it let me know,also i have a hyperpro damper setup so the top nut is only torqued to 55ft.lbs., like hyperpro recommends. thanks for the help:dunno wwn3d :fork

Check the headset for looseness by supporting the frnt of the motorcycle off the ground using a floor jack under the exhaust collector, and pushing fore and aft on the fork lowers and test for any free-play. A freind to help stabilize the lifted bike is very useful.
