Looking for a how to on a STM evo slipper clutch install. I’ve had this clutch in and out of my bike 5 times now to no avail. When I tighten
down the the main nut it locks up the clutch pack so there is no disengagement. I’ve searched the forum for a while now for one. Seems like a person named Vakahn did one 20 years ago.

Are the bearings in the back seated in the correct position...not in the "slipping" stages on the ramps?

Did you measure the stack to be within spec?
Is the clutch boss completely seated?

Those have been my 3 mistakes.

Hmmmm that’s exactly where I placed the bearings. Where else can they go besides the little ramps?

1:33 it is not a yamaha but the bearings sit at the bottom of the small "ramps"
That is the best way I can explain it.....
double check..... then make sure clutch boss is seated completely.
If it is not any of those.... my last guess is the stack height......

I don't even remember how to do it. Put one in my 05 like 16 years ago. But I remember it wasn't that hard and I just followed the instructions. Sounds like something isn't installed or lined up correctly for yours.

Firstly ensure you have the correct kit for your model, as the 06 is different to the 04-05. The input shaft for the 06 is a different length to that of the 04-05 as the 06 had a reverse torque clutch as OEM, and thus the clutch basket and boss were also different. Very important ! The other common fault when people remove the basket is that they do not engage the oil pump chain drive gear properly behind the basket. Attached a link for the R1 products from STM

thank you for your response. I made sure to purchase the correct one for the 2004-2005 year. I need to ensure the the stack height is correct also. I purchased a brand new set from Yamaha and did not use the 2 rings. I’m sure I have the oil pump sprocket engaged but I need to do it again.
