had anybody stripped the threads on the fairing holdings on their engines before?


if so whats the best solution?


ive stripped my left side upper thread,meaning i can secure my fairing fully.



any suggestions please.

yea i did, what u need is something called a heli coil set it runs about 20 dollars and it will replace the threads and its just as strong. you can get them in any good auto parts store. you will need the thread size first which your yamaha dealer should know.

Is it completely stripped out? If not then I would take the fairing screw or the bike to a local machine shop and see if they lend you a tap or run a tap through it and clean it up.

I think the fairing screws are either a M5 or M6 metric screw.

You can usually tell when the screw is going in crooked and cross threading. If you didn't tighten it down all the way then you should still be ok.
