Hi there. This is my first post (and visit) to this site.

I got my R1 two weeks ago and have been able to squeeze out a few days of riding (including today!).

I have been riding dirt for the past years, haven't had a street bike since my old 1986 Nighthawk S. Let s just say I had a pretty good scare on my last streetbike and it took time to get over it. :)

I am concerned about my R1's tank getting marred or scratched. I am having NO luck finding any online accessories for a 2002 R1. I am in need of a tank bra. I have emailed numerous online shops and have YET to get any kind of response(I will not be buying anything from them, I have a list). I drove two hours out of my way to get my bike from a Yamaha dealer because they were the ONLY dealer to respond to my questions via email(I passed the dealer I bought my 01 YZ 250 from on the way).

Nevertheless, can anyone here recommend a place/site that have bras in stock for the 2002?

I am nowhere near as serious as allot of the people who post here, I won't be doing much of any modifications to my bike, I just want to keep it looking good. I am a casual rider.

Thanks!

here's a pic of my baby:

www.thetankslapper.com just released theirs... The guy e-mailed me earlier today to let me know... It's not on the availability list, but there is a selection for it when you go to Buy it Here option. Just ordered one up, I'll let you know how it turns out...
Thanks! I ordered one myself. For $15.00 it's worth a shot, it wil at least protect my tank until I can get a regular bra (when they are available).

just my thoughts

Personally, I don't like the tank bras- only because I've seen more people GET sctratches on their tank because of them! Dirt or sand or raod particles get trapped underneath and rubbed against the paint by the bra. I recomend a good tank-pad (the plastic adhesive ones) I use a clear one (forgot the name) but i had a shitty magnetic one, than ditched it for the clear one - it looks great, because you almost cant see it! you hit it with a hairdryer real quick, then stick it on - no air bubbles nothing, looks sweet.

I have a second look tank bra for my 00. Matches the colour of the bike. I don't use it all the time - half on half -off. You do have to be carefully of letting dirt build up in-betweeen tank and bra.
