Can anyone tell me if the '04 R1 Can accept a Magnetic Tankbag?....Or is it Plastic?

Thanx in advance..........:jump

The front half of the tank is plastic. I successfully circumvented this by taking a small piece of tube webbing, melting a Q-tip sized hole in it, then running the tubing through the front of the qwik release clip that comes with most tank bags. You can then clip into the front of the tank with your bag and utilize the rear metalic portion of the tank as you regularly would.

You are definately good w/ your hands..BTW What is Tube webbing?.....and are u tying off to the steering stem?
I'll try to post some pics tomorrow. Tube webbing is a flat-type rope they use for rapelling harness. Essentially it is like a tube of nylon pressed flat, similar in shape to that of your tie-downs. You can pick it up by the foot (.20 per ft.) at REI gear stores. I was seriously not looking forward to coming up with a practical way of using my magnetic tank bag until I figured this out. It works great! Come to think of it, you can use a piece of your tie down if you have too. It'll work the same.

But anyways, no. I didn't tie anything to the tripple clamp, just simply utilized the bolt at the very front of the tank.

Nvicta, Thanx so much for the info. It is Much appreciated.
I will eagerly await your Pics........:)
okay, here's the pic I took last night. I probably made this sound way more complicated than it is, but I just link up to the clip at the top of the tank and voila!

Ah ....I see now. I understand exactly what you did. And yes I've seen that webbing before, just didn't know the name of it.

Great Idea and thanx for sharing that w/ me
