Well that's a bottom of the barrel 2yr old Teknic suit but , it's a one piece and not really comprable to a two piece. I'd say if you crashed in it once it'd do it's job but you would'nt wear it again........................ever.a

Not to bag on teknic but the quality is not there. Cheap is the word. I have used there gloves in the past and I believe they are of good quality (the carbon fiber knuckeled ones). I have seen many of my buddies crash in those jackets and the seams just rip apart. Basically its only good for one good crash and its done. You really can't go wrong with Alpinestars a very good reputation and quality is definately there. The way I think is if I crash at a 100mph I want to know that the gear I have on is the best quality in the world that will stand up to the aftermath. Saving a couple of bucks can't save you quality protection. I would rather spend the money where it insures my life. That is just my two cents.

try alpinestars, I personally wear Kushitani. Dainese, Spidi, Tai chi, and spyke. Alpinestars and spidi is cheaper but quality assured.

I just bought a new (2004 model) Teknic Chicane 2-piece suit from Kneedraggers.com for $425. I am happy with the fit and "quality" of the suit for the money, but as Solidus said, it will do it's job once and you won't wear it again. If you rarely go to the track go for it, but if you plan on going to the track often go with a higher quality suit such as Dainese or Spidi.:thumbup.

Well , there are different levels of Teknic . I've personally crashed in both the gloves and a jacket and both came out like pearls. The jacket was white silver and black and the white part was faded off just a little. ( I slid on my back for a pretty good way. ). And the gloves are still wearable today. Granted I opted for the top line Speedstar level of Teknic. I had a pair of The low end prowler pants and the seams started to give and the crotch tended to bunch. But when I got the speedstar level I could'nt be more satisfied with them. Teknic is a brand I trust and would buy again. In all it's like Comparing the safety of a Geo metro to a Cadillac Seville. Both are made by GM but you pay extra for more.

Step away...The chicane is GOAT SKIN and will not hold up in a crash.Thats why its socheap.Look around For a FULL grain cowhide suit is possible.1.4 mm thick will dothe trick.

The Violator and Lightning jackets are cowhide, Chicane is goatskin.
I have a Violator and it is built very well, metal zippers, armor that stays in place and the cowhide is thick.

how about kangaroo...!!!
Kangaroo tends to be known for it's lightness and does do well in single crashes not multiples so to speak. Sponsered riders have the luxury of replacing out their leathers after a crash so longevity is not an issue for them. For the guy looking to get many years and many crashes out of a set of leathers kangaroo should not be your first choice.

I have crashed in my 2 piece teknic suit at over 100 on the track and slid quite a distance on my arse and side. It held up extremely well with a slight tear where the keprotec is sewn into the leather. I hit HARD and did'nt have a mark on me. I still use it to this day. I think I paid like 600 for the thing and it was worht every penny. I'm sure there are better suits out there but for the $ I think they are top notch. For the street, I would look into getting something with a good back protector as well. People tend to overlook the benefits of a working unfused spinal column.

I think you get what you pay for. Last year I bought a pair of the
Teknic Lightning Leather Gloves. They have done their job well,
but I have noticed a few of the finger tips appear to be
unraveling on last weekends ride. I'd be real leary about the
goat skin leathers.
