Hey guys -- there's a track close to my house that offers track days. The only catch is that they let cars and bikes on the track at the same time. I know it's more dangerous, but would you guys do it anyway? The nearest "motorcycles only" track is about 3 hours away so there's a pretty big convenience factor. Advice??

I would do it.... less chance of being passed ie you get to do all the passing...only part I'd be worried about is getting rear ended while braking just before a curve...I bet a lot of guys in cars would like to try to 'catch up' at that point...

I'm kind of worried about being next to a car when it spins out. Leather doesn't help much when you get run over.

No way. You should go to Loudon or Tamworth. I'll hook you up with the info if you want to sign up for a track day.

*Unless they're doing sessions? Like 20 mins of cars, then 20 mins of bikes, and so on?

Hey skinny -- it's at Limerock. I'm not positive but I think you can pay $50 to get on the track. They have 1 hour for motorcycles only and then the rest of the day for motorcycles and cars. If that doesn't work out then the next closest tracks are Loudon, Poconos, etc.

$50 is pretty cheap. I'd consider it just for the 1 hour. I pay around $200-$250 for Loudon and that track kinda sux. That's why I'm making the extra long trip up to Tamworth.

Limerock is awesome, except the guardrails are scary for bikes. I did Skip Barber there.

I ride track days to keep away from stupid cagers. Way too dangerous for me, especially if you are going to be out there with less than expert car drivers.

My track some times does combined days, but it is always alternating from cars to bikes (never in same session). This can actually be a benefit on cooler days as the cars help heat up the track and lay down some rubber. Traction definitely improves after they've been out for a session...
