i was wondering what would happen if u install a turbo into a 04 R1? would it be competitive to the turbo hayabusa if it had the same turbo size as the hayabusa and what would you think it would top out at?? dose anyone here think there going to turbo their 04??

talk to spidey. Probably not competitve with a turbo busa as the Aerodynamics are not as good on the R1. Designed for different purposes. better stretch the crap outta your swingarm too.


I would love to see it though

Well the turbo would be different to begin with, different motors. That would be a wheelie mofo for sure. Different machines though, I think the busa wins in the quarter mile stock vs stock only because it is heavier and can launch harder giving it an advantage vers the 1k pogo stick. The 1k have same acceleration (about) til 150ish then the busa/12r will pull away. Adding a turbo on a 1k vers a turbo busa/12r will yield same results just faster. (assuming you run the same psi of boost.) AKA there is no stubstitute for displacement. Would be a kick a$$ machine though.

I intend to turbo my 04 a few months after it arrives. No one has made a kit yet though, so I might have to custom fab it myself. If that's the case I will probably throw on something rediculous like a T66. :riding :eek:

not just displacement. cause if it was just displacement, weight would be a bigger issue. Aerodynamics plays just as big of a role over 125-130 as displacement. Power alone doesnt make you fast. Drag plays a big part in that. Take a submarine for example. Put the same ammount of power in a boat that weighs the same thing and it will be faster. why??? Drag. It doe snot have to work as hard for the same speed because it moves more efficiently. Oh yah, and to say it again, Average 02 Busa my ass

7 psi about 225hp
15 psi ~290-100.

Any more boost than 6-7 psi on stock engine =kaboom
250+=new rods, new injectors,water injection/race fuel/or intercooler.
275+=new pistons+above

I'm sure there are kits out there. I know you don't want to visit no stupid busa forums but at suzukihayabusa.org the owner is making kits for the gsxr 1k. You could buy that kit - the headars and fab yourself some. Barry at Velocity racing does this too, he could help but he just crashed and is in the hospital. Superkaos.com sells the velocity kits as well, Kevin could hook ya up.

O and bwalker I just don't have the money you got to buy all that shit, as I only have the pc3 in that list I am average....at least thats what my woman says...o wait, i mean....damn.

mate,

you are definately barking up the wrong tree if you are considering turboing your spanking new r1.

1. it already has enough trouble keeping the front on the ground as is, and you want to turbo that??. Its funny cause i can imagine the state of your underwear at 10k rpm when your turbo boosts up. :2bitchsla

2. I doubt very much that you can afford to put a kit on like that, and even if you could, you most certainly wouldnt be able to afford the insurance... " whats that you say.. 180hp??, and your adding a turbo?... ohhh wait... im just punching that into my calculator to calculate your insurance... yeah bout $50k, that cool? "

3. Like myself,ive heard that you're getting of an r6 onto an r1. Get a brain man or you'll end up having some ambulance driver getting a dust pan and broom on the road cleaning up your cranium juices.

ok yes there is a turbo in works for the 04 R1. it is being fabbed up by velocity racing. there products are the shiznit. not cheap prolly at least 5500-6000$$$$. with his street kit on hayabusa a spacer plate is installed to lower compression. i used to have this kit on my hayabusa b4 upgrading to race kit. with pump gas its good to 15 psi and made 350 h.p on dyno with rear wheel spinning. so what we are talking about with the R1 is 220 hp at 4-5 psi and upwards of 300 at 10-12 psi. assuming the compression is left alone. if its lowered more boost can be achieved, but the rods really nead to be replaced with goood rods and lower compression pistons. unfortunaltely barry henson (owner of velocity) was in bad wreck when a tire blew on test bike while riding on highway. he had bad spill with guard rail that almost tore off his foot. and broke a wrist. next few days should telll if he will be ok, but it will prolly slow down the new R1 kits. dont know yet.

lol..im not planning on getting an R1 at all in my life...atleast i dont plan to im sticking to an R6. :thumbup i was just wondering if anyone here was going to turbo an 04 R1 and i was just wondering how it would be like :hellobye
